That is why we are so excited to introduce you to Dr. Katherine Palmerola, MD, our newest medical advisor.Dr. Palmerola is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

What is your educational background?

Dr: Palmerola: For undergrad, I attended the University of Pennsylvania and for medical school, I attended Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. I completed both my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New York Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.

Where do you live and practice now?

Dr: Palmerola: I now live in Miami Beach, Florida and practice at IVFMD.

What is your favorite part of being a doctor?

Dr: Palmerola: Helping my patients! Seeing a baby's heartbeat on ultrasound for the very first time with a couple who has struggled to conceive is such an incredible moment that I have the honor and privilege of sharing with my patients. As a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist, I am literally in the field of making miracles happen! I can't imagine a better superpower.

Why did you decide to join the Winx Health team as a medical advisor?

Dr: Palmerola: I was excited to join the Winx Health Team because of their underlying mission — a company designed by women and dedicated to improving health literacy. What is your biggest piece of advice for those trying to conceive?

Dr: Palmerola: Be your healthiest, balanced self in terms of diet, exercise, and stress (to the best of your ability!). Try NOT to overthink it — sex should be fun! If you are struggling to conceive or have known medical conditions that may impact fertility, don't be afraid to reach out to your OBGYN early in your fertility journey.

What is your biggest piece of advice for those NOT trying to conceive?

Dr: Palmerola: Pregnancy is preventable! Talk to your OBGYN about best contraceptive methods for you to ensure you are protected from conception.

What is one thing you want the Winx Health community to know about their health?

Dr: Palmerola: I consider the menstrual cycle to be a sixth vital sign as it provides important insight into your health. Irregular menstrual cycles or changes to your menstrual regularity should never be ignored. Be sure to speak with your OBGYN with any concerns regarding your menstruation!
