Real stories: Your experiences with baby-making szn
The time between Thanksgiving and New Year's is referred to as Baby Making Szn because it is when most babies are conceived in the United States. However, at Winx Health (formerly known as Stix), we know that just because you're taking a pregnancy or ovulation test doesn't mean you're actively trying to get pregnant. Additionally, we know that there are so many questions about sex, pregnancy, conception, and birth control that we still have.
So, we asked the Winx Health community to share their real feelings about Baby Making Szn in 2020. We got hundreds of responses that gave us insight into your experiences with sex, pregnancy, conception, and birth control. See below for what we learned!
More than half of people actively trying to conceive do not feel confident in their knowledge about getting pregnant
Only 47% of the Winx Health community that is actively trying to conceive said they felt confident in their knowledge about it. The most common words associated with trying to conceive were frustrating, long, and stressful.
Of those not trying to conceive, only a quarter said they do not feel confident in their knowledge about sex and birth control
73% of the Winx Health community not trying to conceive said that they felt confident in their knowledge about sex and birth control. The most common words they associated with their current sex life is active, great, and average.
Only 23% of people actively trying to conceive said the pandemic changed their conception plans
77% of the Winx Health community trying to conceive said that the pandemic had not changed their conception plans. For the 23% of people who said the pandemic did change their conception plans, many said that they just delayed the start of trying to conceive, but did not stop trying to conceive completely.
More than half of those not trying to conceive said the pandemic didn't change their sex life
51% of the Winx Health community not trying to conceive said that the pandemic didn't change their sex life at all. For the 49% that did have their sex life change, it was a fairly even split between those who are now having more sex due to quarantining with a partner and those who are having less sex due to stress or not actively dating.
80% of people said trying to conceive was harder than they expected
The most cited reasons for trying to conceive being harder than expected is that it is taking longer than the respondents expected. It takes the majority of couples up to a year to conceive after they start trying to get pregnant.
